William was a Dairy Farmer at the time of Doris' marriage in 1918.
William Edward Albury Byrne died on 6 Nov 1948 at the District Hospital in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, at the age of 81 and his life was celebrated in the Braidwood Despatch & Mining Journal of 12 Nov. 1948 (Page 3) as follows:
MR. W. E. A. BYRNE
Death claimed one of the last of the pioneers of the Northern Territory at the Queanbeyan District Hospital on Saturday, when Mr. William E. A. Byrne passed to his Eternal Reward after an illness of about two weeks.
Born at Sutton Forest 81 years ago, when nine years of age Mr. Byrne went to the Northern Territory with his uncle, the late Mr. Nicholas Byrne, of 'Fairfield,' Krawarree, where he remained for some years. Then coming to Krawarree, he married Miss Katie Bradley, who predeceased him 14 years ago. Later Mr. Byrne and his family went to Allandale, West Maitland, where they followed dairying pursuits for some years, and then returned to Krawarree. After that they lived in Braidwood for some time, and finally, after Mrs. Byrne passed away, Mr. Byrne went to Queanbeyan to live in retirement. He was a man who knew what it was to toil hard and long, but, like most of the fine old pioneers, he lived to a great age, again proving that work never killed anyone. Surely his reward for a long and useful life will be great.
The deceased could relate many colourful stories of the great Northern Territory, of the hardships and dangers experienced there in the early days. He went there first with his uncle, the late Mr. Nicholas Byrne, in the year 1883, taking with them two new wagons and 48 bullocks, which were purchased in the Braidwood district. The trip was made in an old sailing ship.
In 1855 he was working on a big Government contract, taken by his uncle, carrying supplies to the overland telegraph station, via Katherine River, Daly Waters and Powell's Creek, a distance of over 500 miles. The hardships these old teamsters endured would make even the hardiest of the present generation quail. One trip a year could only be made, as water supplies were practically non-existent over the greater part of the long and difficult route. One stretch of over 80 miles had no water at all. It is on record that one well known teamster of those days, Jim Ault, almost lost two of his teams in 1883 owing to having to face a big stretch without water. The following year both his drivers, skilled, courageous men, were killed on the homeward journey near the Lawson River by blacks. However, the late Mr. Byrne and his uncle kept supplies going through with the regularity of clockwork, undismayed by the dangers and hardships of the long trail.
In the year 1890 his uncle left the Territory, but Mr. W. Byrne completed the contract and came back to Krawarree the following year. Surviving members of the family, to whom the 'Dispatch' extends sincere sympathy, are Cecil (Queanbeyan), Doris (Mrs. Hunt, Newcastle), Vera (Moruya), Eva (Mrs. Clowes, Sydney), Muriel (Mrs. Fenton, Sydney), Phyllis (Mrs. C. J. Fletcher, Captain's Flat), Joan (Mrs. Evans, Queanbeyan). Two sons, Othell and Horace, predeceased him. A sister, Lily (Mrs. Bonnett, Robertson) and five brothers, Frederick, Charles, Percy and Thomas, of Tallong, and John (Murwillumbah) also survive. The funeral took place in the Church of England cemetery, Braidwood, on Monday, after a service in St. Andrew's Church, the Rev. J. Rose officiating at the last sad rites. Mr. Why, of Queanbeyan, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
He was buried on 8 Nov 1948 at the Church of England Cemetery in Braidwood, New South Wales.

Katie Eleanor Byrne died on 13 Feb 1934 at the District Hospital in Goulburn, New South Wales, at the age of 57 and her passing was recorded in the Braidwood Despatch & Mining Journal of 16 Feb. 1934 (Page 2) as follows:
OBITUARY
We regret to record the death of Mrs. W. E. A. Byrne, of Braidwood, which occurred at Goulburn at an early hour on Tuesday morning. The deceased lady, who was 57 years of age, was of a most kindly and unassuming disposition, and was generally liked and respected.
She had been ailing for some time, and was admitted to Braidwood Hospital last Wednesday week. At the time no serious consequences were anticipated. On Saturday night her condition began to alarm her relatives, and on Monday morning the doctor considered it advisable to send her to Goulburn for X-ray. The ambulance was sent for, and she was taken to Goulburn in the afternoon. On arrival there she was in bad shape, and little hope was entertained for her. She lingered on till next morning, when she passed away.
The remains were brought back to Braidwood, where the funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. H. F. A. Champion conducting the burial service.
Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. John Bradley, and was married at Krawarree 40 years ago. She leaves a widower and family of seven to mourn her loss. These are: Mrs. Hunt (Newcastle), Mrs. Dillworth (Marrickville), Mrs. Fenton (Sydney), Cecil (Queanbeyan), Mrs. Fletcher Braidwood), Mrs. Heanes (Braid-wood) and Miss Joan. One boy was killed at Lochinvar during the big 1917 strike, while doing loyal duty. Mr. R. Russell had charge of the funeral arrangements.
She was buried on 14 Feb 1934 at the Church of England Portion in Braidwood, New South Wales.
