Henry William Searles married Sarah Beaumont on 4 May 1881 in Rockhampton, Queensland.
Henry William Searles died on 6 Jul 1935 at Ibis Street in Longreach, Queensland, and his death was reported as follows:
After suffering from an illness which had afflicted him for some time, Mr. Henry William Searles died at his residence, Ibis Street, Longreach, at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday.
Deceased who was 79 years old, was born at Maitland, New South Wales.
When 19 years of age he left for Queensland travelling with teams to Rockhampton where he engaged in wool carrying from the west to Westwood. He claimed to have been the first carrier to convey a load of wool to that centre. As the railway
proceeded westward from Rockhampton deceased came with it until it reached Barcaldine where he remained for 6 years. When the line came through to Longreach in 1892 deceased removed to this centre and he had remained here ever since.
He engaged in carrying for some years after coming to Longreach but finally sold out to the late Mr. Tom. O'Donoghue. He then entered the aerated water business purchasing a factory from the late Mr. James Cronin which he carried on for some years before retiring from active life.
He was married in Rockhampton in 1881 to Sarah, second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alf. Beaumont. He is survived by his widow who resides in Ibis Street, five daughters, three sons and 37 grandchildren, the members of the family being: Mesdames E. Felsman (Toowoomba), B. D. Curtis, J. Genninges, A. Beard (Longreach), E. Williamson (Dalrymple Heights, Mackay), Messrs. William (Wowan), Charles and Alex. (Longreach).
The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, the Rev, A. G. Michael officiating at the graveside.
