It was stated that at the inquiry into the circumstances of the death of McKnight, who was knocked down by a motor car, the coroner (Mr. May, S.M.), had returned a verdict of accidental death. Wall was thereupon discharged.
On a charge of having driven a motor car in a manner dangerous to the public in Pittwater Road, Narrabeen, on March 1, he was remanded, on £20 ball, till April 2.
He was buried on 3 Mar 1931 at the Church of England Necropolis in Rookwood, New South Wales, and the Notice recorded: OBITUARY:

At the graveside the Police Band played "Abide with Me."
