Sarah Goddard was born about 1795 in London.

Sarah Goddard married John Wakely on 15 Dec 1816 at the Parish Church of St Botolph in Aldgate, London, by Banns.
Sarah and John lived at 61 Upper East Smithfield in London in 1817.
Sarah and John lived at New Road, St George in the East in London in 1820.
Sarah and John lived at Poplar in London in 1823.

Sarah Goddard immigrated to Sydney, New South Wales, and arrived in Nov 1833 with her two surviving sons on board the "Lonach", and a researcher has summarised the available evidence as follows: "Sarah Goddard appears to have originally set off with 4 children for Australia on the Lonach. When they arrived at Hobart in October 1833, immigration records show Sarah and 2 children, a daughter, Elizabeth, 10 and a son Joseph, 7. By the time they arrived in Sydney, the passenger list shows a 40 year old Elizabeth Wakely and 2 boys under 12. John's petition of 18 July 1838 over the loss of his Ticket of Leave states that his wife arrived with 3 children on the Lonach. Sarah's petition of 27 July 1838 states that she arrived with her 3 boys in 1833. Obviously the passenger list is not to be trusted. It would appear that Elizabeth, their daughter, died between Hobart and Sydney. Perhaps the boys were working their passage., and William took over the paid fare?"

Sarah Goddard died in 1842 possibly in childbirth - not confirmed.
