He served his time as a moulder at the foundry of D.Sim and Sons, with which firm he worked for upwards of 20 years.
At one time he was a member of the Maitland Rifle Club, and was also a prominent member of the Maitland Bicycle Club. He won a number of notable road races and was successful in other events. He was a keen fisherman. Mr Fairhall resided with his father in James Street, Morpeth. The funeral, which was largely attended left here for At James Church of England, and thence to the Morpeth Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr.Elkin. The chief mourners were Mr Fred Fairhall, father; Messrs Harry, Stan, Walter, Garnet, Fred, Charlie, Bob, Leslie and Clyde Fairhall, brothers; Mrs H.King and Mrs E.Sheehan, sisters; Mr H.Cridland, brother-in-law.

He was buried at the Church of England Cemetery in Morpeth, New South Wales, in an unmarked grave to the left of Rosanna's grave, and on the right of Arthur's unmarked grave.
