Elizabeth Anne Booshand
Elizabeth Anne Booshand died in Aug 2008 outside the Regal Charcoal Chicken Shop in Charnwood, Australian Capital Territory, at the age of 43 and an ABC New report on 17 July 2011 stated: The ACT Supreme Court has heard emotional accounts of the effect the murder of a Canberra woman has had on her children.
In May, a jury found Rebecca Anne Massey, 38, guilty of murdering Elizabeth Booshand with a knife outside a Charnwood takeaway chicken shop in 2008.
During a sentencing hearing today, the court was told that Massey has lived a life of criminality and drug dependence.
She first become addicted to heroine and benzodiazepine when she was 17 and has a criminal history of assaults, drug taking, theft and drug dealing.
Twice she has been convicted of possessing a knife in a public place.
The court also heard of the impact Ms Booshand's murder has had on her children.
The victim's daughter, Shailee, saw her mother murdered. She was eight years old at the time.
Elizabeth Booshand's older daughter, Rebecca Kondek, fought back tears when she told the court she often finds Shailee crying in her room and saying "it's not fair, I want my mummy back."
She said "the pain this little girl has gone through is unbearable."
Justice Malcolm Gray adjourned the hearing until next week.
She was buried on 5 Aug 2008 (Grave location recorded as: PB-08-05-00-372) in Gungahlin, Australian Capital Territory.
