      Thomas Spinks was born on 22 Dec 1847 at Neville's Row, Burrough Road in London.

Thomas Spinks immigrated with James Spinks and Margaret Spinks on 27 May 1855 at Sydney, New South Wales, on board the "Constitution", having left Southwark, London on 17 Feb 1855 with 380 immigrants on board.

Thomas Spinks married Annie Maria Comley on 6 Mar 1876 at Brewongle in Bathurst, New South Wales.
Thomas was an Inspector of Railways at the time of Walter's marriage in 1907.

Thomas Spinks died on 16 Jan 1916 in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, at the age of 68 and his Obituary recorded in the MAITLAND MERCURY - January 20th, 1916:
DEATH OF THOMAS SPINKS
Mr. Thomas Spinks, Sen., an old and highly respected resident of Kurri Kurri, died at his residence at an early hour on Tuesday morning, aged 68 years (writes our Mines Representative). Born in London, the late Mr. Spinks came to Sydney with his parents when only 11 years of age. After assisting his father who was a plasterer, he became apprenticed as a boiler-maker at Mort's Dock. He served seven years in the trade, but, disliking it, he left and entered the service of the Railway Commissioners. He made rapid headway in the service, and, in 1884, he was promoted to the position of Sub-Inspector of lines at Orange. Later he was appointed relieving Sub-Inspector at Sydney, and he also occupied a similiar position at Glen Innes. In 1898 he was transfered to Newcastle, where he retired on a pension in 1907. Soon afterwards he secured a Plumbing and Tinsmith's business in Kurri, which he conducted, with his sons, up to the time of his death.
Deceased was W.P.M. of the Manning Mark Masonic Lodge, and was one of the founders and a trustee of the Kurri Masonic Lodge, besides Secretary of the latter body at the time of his death. He took a keen interest in local affairs, being President of the local Progress Association for several years, Vice-President of the Local Chamber of Commerce, and laterly, he took an active interest in Patriotic Affairs. He leaves a widow, five sons, and four daughters. The sons are, Tom. WIlliam, Walter, George and Robert, and the daughters are Mrs. Towndrow, Mrs. Roe, Mrs. Johnson and Miss Ada Spinks.
