William Stewart
William Stewart immigrated on 1 Oct 1831 to Sydney, New South Wales, from Greenock, Scotland on the 'Stirling Castle'. On board were John Dunmore Lang's "mechanics" with the intention to build the Australian College and the founding members of the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts. It is not known if William was a member of that group.
William Stewart married Elizabeth Davis on 20 Oct 1856 at Purfleet in Taree, New South Wales.
William Stewart died on 6 Aug 1897 in Taree, New South Wales, at the age of 66.
He was buried at Woola Woola Cemetery in Taree, New South Wales.
