The late Mrs Susan Syron, who passed away on April 13, aged 85 years, is survived by daughters Norah (Minimbah), Annie (Wallsend), Hope (Beralla), Kate (Islington) and sons Dave (Newcastle), Bob (Minimbah), Paddy (Sydney) and 97 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two daughters and one son predeceased her.

She was buried on 15 Apr 1954 at the Church of England Cemetery in Forster, New South Wales.

      Patrick Syron was born about 1825 in Co. Mayo.
He emigrated on 25 Feb 1840 from Port Macquarie, New South Wales, from Kingston Harbour (Co. Dublin, Ireland) on board the convict ship "Augusta Jessie", which carried 155 male prisoners, including 23 Junior Prisoners. Patrick Syron, age 15, was one of these, (Convict No.407518) and he had been sentenced to transportation for 7 years for stealing tobacco. It is recorded that junior convicts attended a school for an hour and a half each morning and afternoon. Bryan Coan was listed as a schoolmaster on the convict indents and it may have been he who conducted the school during the voyage. The ship landed in Sydney on 25 Feb 1840.
Patrick was possibly granted land following the granting of his Certificate of Freedom at Oxley Island in Manning River District, New South Wales.
