IKIN, of Bandon Grove return sincere thanks to the many friends for kindness and expressions of sympathy during their late sad bereavement in the death of their two sons, Harry and Pte. George Ikin" and on the anniversary of his death, their memorial notice read: "HONOR ROLL.
IKIN. — In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Pte. George E. Ikin, who died of wounds in France on 7th October, 1918.
A brave young life which promised well,
By the will of God a hero fell.
His sacrifice was not in vain.
Thank God a victory gained.
Inserted by his loving parents, sister and brothers". (Note: War Graves records show he died on 1 Oct 1918.)
He was buried at Doingt Communal Cemetery Extension (Grave location recorded as: III. A. 8) in Doingt, Somme.
