It is with sincere and personal regret that we chronicle the passing of Mr. Alfred Hubert Bowden, at the age of 61 years. Mrs. Kitty Clegg, of McKay Street, Macksville, youngest daughter, received word of her father's sudden death, caused by heart failure, on (Sunday morning last Mr. Bowden was residing with his daughter Lily (Mrs. H. G. Cumming), at Marrickyille, when his death occurred. All other members of his family are now living in Sydney, but are well known in this district - they are Alma (Mrs. C. Stewart, Burwood), Lily (Mrs. H. G. Cumming, Marrickville), Daisy
(Mrs. Len Waterhouse, Northmead), and Mr. Harry Bowden (Earlwood).
Mr. Bowden's wife predeceased him five years ago. Seven grandchildren also survive. The late Mr. "Bert" Bowden was highly respected in Macksville, having been employed by Allan Taylor & Co. on the local drogher for many years; for some months past he had been employed at a steel works in Sydney. The remains were cremated at the Rookwood C. of E. Cemetery on Monday, November 30th, in the presence of his family and friends.
