It was recorded that he was "buried on the south side of a hedge, about 100 yards SSW of Middle Farm and 100 yards west of the road, north-west of Messines." A later commuinication shows Alfred was reburied after the war in Messines Ridge British Cemetery, Belgium - Plot 5, Row A.
