Murray Leo Armstrong
He began military service on 17 Jul 1942 in Brisbane, Queensland, as a Flying Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, Service No. 426484. He trained as a Pilot Officer, qualifying as a Front Gunner, Bomb Aimer and Navigator.
He continued his military service on 20 Mar 1944, being transferred to England to join 460 Squadron of the RAAF in Lancaster Bombers at RAF Binbrook, Lincolnshire. Under pilot John Critchley, Leo flew the final three missions (87, 88 and 89) over Europe on board "G for George" (W4783), and then the crew flew other flights in another aircraft including preparation for the D-Day Landings. He was discharged from Active Service at Dalby, QLD on 2 Jan 1946 and returned to duty with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Leo and Joan lived at Courtlands Retirement Village, 129/15 Gloucester Ave in North Parramatta, New South Wales, in 2002.
