James William Clements immigrated on 25 Aug 1833 to Sydney, New South Wales, as a Convict from England on board the "Captain Cook". James had been convicted on 16 December 1832 for stealing a handkerchief valued at 3 shillings, and received a Life sentence in The Old Bailey on 3 January 1833. On arrival, he was assigned to Caleb and Felix Wilson on their property "Tocal" at Paterson, and no doubt assisted with the building of Tocal homestead in 1839.
