Thomas Boots married Hannah Tree, daughter of William Tree and Martha French, on 21 Jun 1800 in Beckley, East Sussex. Thomas Boots was a farm labourer and carpenter in and around Salehurst.
He emigrated in 1828 to the United States of America, on board the "Electra" with some of their children: Josiah (17), William (15), Jane (13), Martha (10), John (6), Daniel (4) and George (2), arriving in New York on 7 Jul 1828. In later years, their other living children also migrated, but James and Mary went to Australia rather than follow other family members to the United States.
Thomas and Hannah lived at Gulf Bridge Road in West Monroe, Constantia, a 13 Aug 1828 on a farm of 25 acres, purchased from New York merchant Stephen B. Munn, according to Oswego County records.
Thomas Boots died on 2 Sep 1864 in Constantia, Oswego County, New York, at the age of 85.
He was buried at West Monroe Cemetery in West Monroe, Oswego County, New York, and the inscription reads:
age 85 yrs 6 mos
Come dear friends and cast an eye.
For as you are, so once was I;
As I am now, so you must be,
Therefore, prepare to follow me.
I am gone to rest in Jesus arms.
And there to enjoy his heavenly care.
He called me once t’was by his voice,
And I hope with joy to see his face.
